Weeksville: Past, Present, Future
Slavery in New York ended in 1827 and by the early 1830s a new Free Black community was formed in the area known as Weeksville. The historical significance of this community was all but forgotten until the land was about to be cleared for a housing project in the late 1960s. We will see what was unearthed from the archeological dig and how it affects the community today. The highlight will be a visit inside the original Hunterfly Road houses. $17 for adults, $12 for students (includes admission into the houses).

*Celebrate the 5th of July with Game Rebellion

This six-member Rock/Rap band with their spare beats and excursions into heavy metal, will once again challenge the status quo between rock & roll and rap. Catering by Dante’s Fried Chicken Show

*5th of July: Enslaved Africans were emancipated in New York State on July 4 1827, because of threats of violence, African Americans in New York City celebrated this important holiday outdoors on July 5th instead.
