Broom as they discuss their powerful new memoirs, "Breathe: A Letter To My Sons" and "The Yellow House", longlisted for this year's National Book Award, with series curator Bridgett M. Davis.
Sarah M. Broom has contributed to the New Yorker, New York Times Magazine, Oxford American, and O, The Oprah Magazine, among others. She received her Master’s in Journalism from the University of California, Berkeley, and has been awarded fellowships from the Djerassi Resident Artists Program and The MacDowell Colony. She lives in Harlem with her partner, filmmaker Dee Rees, and a tiny brown dog.
Imani Perry is the Hughes Rogers Professor of African American Studies at Princeton University. She is the author of 6 books, including Looking for Lorraine: The Radiant and Radical Life of Lorraine Hansberry and Breathe: A Letter to My Sons.
