4th Annual Juneteenth Food Festival

From barbecue to red drinks to delectable desserts, the event honors the traditions of Juneteenth while also reflecting Brooklyn’s diasporic foodways. The legendary DJ Spinna will supply the day’s soundtrack alongside family-friendly cultural performances.

Weeksville Heritage Center and Black-Owned Brooklyn are thrilled to present the fourth annual Juneteenth Food Festival. This year’s festival showcases 29 top-tier food brands offering a range of culinary concepts. 

From its earliest celebrations in Texas, food has remained central to Juneteenth, and we’re proud to once again bring this tradition to Historic Weeksville.

Is RSVP required to attend?

An RSVP is not required to attend. This is a free public event, and admission will be on a “first come, first served” basis. Please note that there may be delays accessing the event site if we reach maximum capacity.

Is this a rain-or-shine event?

Yes! Every effort will be made for the festival to go on despite inclement weather (i.e., rain, storms, etc.) within reason.

What’s the easiest way to get to Weeksville Heritage Center?

If using a navigation app, input “Weeksville Heritage Center” or the address “158 Buffalo Avenue, Brooklyn NY 11213.” Please note that bus routes may be modified due to Open Streets.

B46 Local to Bergen Street: Walk past the police station

B15 & B65 to Bergen Street and Buffalo Avenue: Please note: the Bergen Street and Buffalo Avenue stop will be moved due to alternate bus routes for Open Streets.

Will there be parking available?

Buffalo Avenue between St. Marks Avenue and Bergen Street & Bergen Street between Ralph Avenue and Rochester Avenue will be CLOSED to all traffic and parking. We recommend taking public transportation, walking, ride-sharing, or taxis.

Limited street parking is available on the streets surrounding Weeksville Heritage Center.

Are children allowed?

Yes! This is an all-ages event. There will be various activities available for families and children.

Will there be bathrooms?

There will be access to flushing porta potties at the intersection of Buffalo and Bergen. ADA-accessible porta potties will be available.

Will there be seating?

We encourage you to bring your own blankets or lawn chairs to use for seating on the lawns at Weeksville. There will also be limited seating areas available. Please be mindful of people who may need to utilize the provided seating, including elders and differently-abled individuals.

Is drinking allowed?

Alcohol is not permitted on the grounds of Weeksville. We will be issuing wristbands for guests ages 21 and over for designated areas to consume alcoholic beverages purchased from our vendors.

Is smoking allowed?

Smoking, vaping, and use of e-cigarettes are prohibited on the grounds of Weeksville to prevent a fire and to further protect the historic grounds.

Are pets allowed?

To help preserve our historic grounds, pets are not allowed on the Weeksville campus during the festival. This policy also applies to pets in handbags or carrying cases. The only exception is for trained service animals.
